On September 5, 2018 Code 3 donated 100 backpacks and supplies to DC Scholars Public Charter School. The school’s staff and Metropolitan Police Department’s 6th district outreach unit worked along side us. This included Officers Medina and Fulcher, 6th District commander Durriyyah Habeebullah, Assistant Chief Chanel Dickerson.
During the give away we took a moment to remember Makyah Wilson, whose life was tragically taken on the evening of July 16th. Makiyah was making her way to a nearby ice cream truck, when she was shot. Four masked men drove up to a crowd of more than two dozen people in the 300 block of 53rd Street NE and fired indiscriminately. Code 3 has committed to keep this event yearly in remembrance of Makiyah.
