When communities are in disrepair, we all must pitch in to help. Studies show that neglected communities littered with refuse leads to an overall feeling of hopelessness and dismay. In contrast, clean communities benefit the city, its residents and even passersby.  It shows that the community is well cared for and even boosts community morale.  Consider how much we can accomplish when we work together.  On March 17, 2018, Code 3 partnered with the Metro Police Department to organize a Community Clean Up Day in Anacostia. Neighborhood residents, dozens of local police officers, and members of various faith based organizations volunteered their time to beautify the neighborhood.

When everyone pitches in to help, the community also grows to be more connected. Working together toward a shared goal enhances the sense of community and encourages relationship building. Local officers working side by side with their constituents provided an opportune time to connect and discuss community concerns. Following the waste removal everyone enjoyed food together during a lively community meet up. Lets continue to work together to foster clean and thriving communities.
