Caring for the community is not usually just a job, but a way of life for policeman. This was clear for Corporal Sebastian Goldman, who thought he was behind on a fashion trend when he saw a teenaged grocery store employee wearing duct taped shoes and inquired about the fashion statement. The employee told the 18-year police veteran of Hueytown, Alabama that it wasn’t a fashion choice, but a way to keep his shoes in tact so he could make it to payday and replace them.

Corporal Goldman was impacted by this so much that he went out and bought this young man new shoes and returned them to the grocery store to deliver to the employee himself. He asked for nothing in return, except that the recipient would pay it forward. The scene was captured by a bystander and when Cpl. Goldman was approached about it, he said,

““I hope people take from it that the police aren’t really bad. We’ve been getting such a bad rap in the news. We’re human beings with families and kids and loved ones.””

We definitely believe his goal of showing people that police aren’t really bad was achieved with this small act that now has had a great impact around the country.
